WEEK 1 – Genesis of the Project
Day 1: Project officially kicks off. Core goal: create a hybrid Sci-Fi FPS/RPG Video Game that merges tactical combat, character creation, and open-world star exploration. Team alignment and initial milestone schedule defined.
Day 2: Design meeting focuses on adapting elements of the Traveller SRD into an interactive RPG framework — especially career background systems and procedural encounters.
Day 3: Unreal Engine 5 project initialized. Core folders set up for gameplay, art, and systems. Placeholder level created for testing movement and camera.
Day 4: Base FPS controller implemented — walking, sprinting, crouch, jump physics tuned for realistic mass and inertia.
Day 5: Brainstorming session for weapon categories — kinetic, plasma, and energy-hybrid prototypes planned.
Day 6: Environmental concept sketches produced for the first playable planet:— an Ice barren, storm-ridden world.
Day 7: Week ends with a playable graybox environment. Early lighting and post-processing tests underway.
Weekly Summary: The project has moved from idea to structure. We defined AD Galaxy Traveler’s tone — grounded realism blended with high-concept exploration. FPS controls feel weighty and smooth, and the first Space Station prototype gives a sense of orbital scale. Next week’s focus: integrating RPG systems (inventory, skills, dialogue) and testing procedural starport layouts.
