The Day We Gave Our Game a Pulse

Welcome back, cosmic travelers!
If you’re reading this, congratulations — you survived Dev Blog #1!
That means you’re brave, loyal, and possibly entertained by our suffering.
We appreciate that. Truly.
Today’s update is a fun one, because something incredible happened this week:
The game came alive.
No, not in a Skynet takeover way…
More like in a “our prototype character finally stopped walking like a confused shopping cart” way.
Progress!

Movement 2.0 — Now With 87% Less Accidental Acrobatics

After lovingly wrestling the physics engine (and losing 3–4 times), we’ve got:

  • Smooth running
  • Smoother jumping
  • Falling that no longer resembles a meteor strike
  • And a fresh fix to the “player launches into orbit when touching a door” issue
(Turns out ramps and gravity were having relationship problems.)

We think they’re getting along better now.

First Weapons Added! (And Yes… One Exploded)
This week we added our first set of prototype weapons:

  • A plasma pistol
  • A scatter-energy shotgun
  • Something we’re calling The Disruptor, which we can’t legally refer to as “safe” yet

All weapons fire now.
Two fire correctly.
One fired backwards during testing.
We’ll call that a feature for now.

NPC AI: They Think! (Sort of.)
We also introduced the beginnings of NPC AI behavior.
Right now they can:

  • Walk around
  • Look suspiciously at the player
  • Get stuck on a small rock
  • Stare deeply into walls for no reason

You know — typical AI stuff.
We’re teaching them better habits next week.
Probably.

Lore Team Update: The Universe Gets Weirder
Our lore writers have been busy constructing the galaxy’s political factions.
So far, we’ve created:

  • The Diralitaxian Empire – elegant, mysterious, and way too good at keeping secrets one of the most longstanding superpowers of the ages.
  • The Larski Kingdom – one of the most dangerous empires to ever arise since humanity left Earth.
  • The Nantanese Empire – Thought to be ruled by two emperors, though neither is chosen dynastically.
  • And yes… progress on the 7 other empires continues

Worldbuilding is going… great?
Let’s say productive.

New Concept Art Sneak Peek
No spoilers (yet), but we now have:

  • The first sketch of the game’s main Starport
  • And a creature concept that made one dev say,
“I want to pet it… but I also think it wants to eat me.”

Perfect.

Final Thoughts for Blog #2
The galaxy is taking shape.
Characters are moving, enemies are thinking-ish, and weapons are firing in mostly the correct direction.
In dev terms, that’s basically a miracle.
Thank you for sticking with us on this journey — we’re having an absolute blast bringing AD Galaxy Traveler to life, and we can’t wait to show you more.

Stay tuned for Blog #3:
“The Day the Space Station Caught Fire (But In a Good Way, We Promise)”
Until then, keep roaming the stars, friends.
